Shehbaz says Pakistan supports peaceful Iranian nuclear programme

TEHRAN: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday said Pakistan fully supports Tehran’s right to pursue a peaceful Iranian civilian nuclear programme.

The remarks came as Iran is facing severe pressure from the United States on the issue and there are reports that Israel might targeted the Iranian nuclear facilities.

Meanwhile, Iran has said during the ongoing talks with the US that it would not suspend top uranium enrichment.

The prime minister was addressing a joint press conference with President Masoud Pezeshkian, where he also expressed the willingness to have dialogue with India, if New Delhi shuns the aggression-based approach.

THE SUPREME LEADER

Also on Monday, the prime minister met Iran’s Supreme Leader Sayyed Ali Khamenei, conveying his profound respect to him.

Shehbaz noted his prominent nature in the Muslim and briefed him on the recent conflict with India, highlighting New Delhi’s hegemonic and revisionist policies.

He also expressed gratitude to the Iranian leadership for its support against Indian aggression.

The prime minister said Pakistan was committed to regional peace and economic development, and reaffirmed his government’s resolve to strengthen bilateral cooperation amid current geopolitical challenges.

Commending Iran’s leadership on its approach to nuclear negotiations with the United States, the Prime Minister expressed hope for a constructive agreement that would contribute to regional peace and stability.

The supreme leader, in response, appreciated the prime minister’s efforts in promoting regional peace and stability, and acknowledged his dedication to enhancing Pakistan-Iran relations.
