Pakistan reaffirms solidarity with Iran amid Israeli strikes

ISLAMABAD: In a show of diplomatic solidarity amid rising Middle East tensions, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reached out to Iranian President Dr Masoud Pezeshkian this evening to condemn recent Israeli military strikes and reaffirm the strong bonds between the two neighbouring Islamic nations.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif engaged in a telephone conversation with Iranian President Dr Masoud Pezeshkian this evening, expressing Pakistan’s complete solidarity with Iran’s government and people following recent Israeli military actions.
During the call, Prime Minister Sharif condemned the Israel’s unprovoked and unjustified aggression against Iran, describing the attacks as violations of Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity that contravene the United Nations Charter and international law. He affirmed Iran’s right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter.

The Pakistani premier extended his heartfelt condolences to President Pezeshkian over the loss of precious lives in the attacks and referenced Pakistan’s support for Iran during yesterday’s emergency session of the UN Security Council. Sharif characterized Israel’s provocative actions and adventurism as a serious threat to regional and global peace and stability.
The Prime Minister also strongly condemned Israel’s ongoing genocidal actions against the Palestinian people, calling on the international community and the United Nations to take immediate and credible measures to halt Israel’s aggressive behavior and illegal actions. He emphasized Pakistan’s full commitment to promoting peace in the region and its readiness to play its role in this regard.
President Pezeshkian thanked the prime minister for Pakistan’s support and solidarity with Iran during this difficult time, particularly at the UN Security Council, describing it as a reflection of the close and brotherly relations between the two countries.
He briefed the prime minister on Iran’s perspective regarding the crisis with Israel and stressed the need for the international community, especially Islamic nations, to work together in addressing these challenges.
Both leaders agreed to maintain close contact on the developing situation.
