PESHAWAR: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Peshawar foiled a terrorism bid after killing a suicide bomber and his handler after a gunfight, as terrorists backed by foreign forces continue targeting security forces, law enforcers and civilians in Pakistan.
According to details, the CTD carried out operation in the Shamshatoo area, located 25 kilometres southeast of the provincial capital.
This area houses a large number of Afghans as there has been a refugee camp which was first opened in 1980s.
Sharing the details, the CTD said the suicide bomber had arrived from Afghanistan and they were planning to execute a large-scale terror attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The law enforcers did not sustain any loss during the encounter and seized arms, ammunition and suicide jacket from the scene.
Also on Sunday, security forces killed two Indian-sponsored terrorists in a firefight that took place in Duki district of Balochistan, as New Delhi continues promoting terrorism in Pakistan.
Earlier on Saturday, thirteen security personnel embraced martyrdom while three innocent civilians, including two children and a woman severely injured in a suicide attack in North Waziristan.
According to the military’s media wing, the cowardly attack – which targeted a security forces convoy in the Mir Ali area – was “planned and orchestrated by the terrorist state of India, and executed by its proxy Fitna al Khawarij.”
UNDER ATTACK
One has to remember that the police have been the main target of terrorists since their who were allowed the PTI government under now incarcerated Imran Khan to relocate and settle in Pakistan.
An unending series of targeted killings are designed to damage the morale of police – the first line of defence – at a time when they are poorly equipped, as the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has failed to modernise the force.
It is despite the fact that the province has been receiving a large funding for the very purpose.
That’s why Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir yet again called for strengthening the civilians, as he visited the injured after the Waziristan bombing.
