PESHAWAR: Opposition leaders in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have criticized Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur for visiting Lahore with a large convoy of vehicles, especially when the province is currently facing unrest and uncertainty.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Opposition Leader expressed concern over what he described as the ‘deployment of thousands of government vehicles in the name of solidarity with Punjab Assembly MPs’. He questioned the move by the provincial chief, citing ongoing challenges to public safety and property in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Dr Ibadullah Khan said that using government funds for political declarations is inappropriate, especially when the province is dealing with issues such as terrorism and instability. He said that the trip represents a misuse of public resources and does not contribute to solving the problems facing residents.
“The people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are going through a difficult time, and this kind of political activity does not address their concerns,” he said, adding, “This is not public service; it is political showmanship.”
The opposition also called for prioritising security and public welfare in the province over what they described as ‘unnecessary political activity’.
