Rain, cool breeze brings relief to Pattoki as storms hit Sibi

PATTOKI: Pattoki and its surrounding areas finally welcomed a refreshing change in the weather, with rain accompanied by a cool breeze breaking the recent spell of intense heat.
The relief provided by the rain was notable among the Pattoki locals, who were enduring scorching temperatures over the past few days.

Meanwhile, in Balochistan, thunderstorms and rain lashed Sibi and nearby regions, surprising residents accustomed to the usually dry climate.
The shift in weather is ironically opposite to the destruction monsoons wreaked on northern Pakistan, especially upper Punjab.
Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir struggled under unprecedented heavy rains and widespread flooding – even the Soan river in Rawalpindi swelled significantly.
On the contrary, Balochistan, considered the driest region in the country, remained mostly parched during the peak of the monsoon season.

As the turns tabled, Punjab is now experiencing a relatively dry spell, with only intermittent showers here and there. Meanwhile, the dryness that defined Balochistan is being challenged as rain and thunderstorms make rare appearances.
The shifting weather pattern sheds light on the unpredictable nature of the monsoon across Pakistan. Climate change has worsened with Pakistan one of most at-risk countries, despite barely contributing to the pollution or global warming.
