LAHORE: Samsung Pakistan has unexpectedly increased the price of its Galaxy S25 Ultra 512GB model by Rs60,000. The phone, which was earlier selling for Rs410,000, is now listed at Rs470,000.
The move comes as a surprise to many, as it was widely believed that Samsung would begin lowering prices ahead of its next flagship launch. Instead, the company has gone in the opposite direction.
The price of another mid-range device, the Galaxy A56, has also been raised. It was earlier available in the market for as low as Rs131,000 but now starts at Rs140,000. Samsung has updated its official website to reflect these changes.
What makes the timing unusual is that Samsung is currently gearing up to launch the Galaxy S26 Ultra, expected by the end of December 2025 or as early as January 2026. With just a few months to go, it was expected that older models like the S25 Ultra would see price cuts to make room for the upcoming device. Instead, the price hike could hurt demand, especially in price-sensitive markets like Pakistan.
That said, the Galaxy S25 Ultra still undercuts the iPhone 16 Pro Max base model (256GB), which is being sold for around Rs475,000 in the local market.
Based on recent trends in the Galaxy S Ultra series, a PTA-approved S26 Ultra could cost as much as Rs630,000 for the top-end variant once it launches in Pakistan.
