LONDON: Pakistani cricketer Haider Ali, who is currently facing rape charges, violated curfew on the night of the alleged assault, according to sources.

Investigations are underway in the UK against national batsman Haider Ali over an alleged rape case.

Authorities have barred him from leaving the city.

According to sources, Haider Ali travelled to Manchester on 23 July in violation of curfew hours. The team management had instructed him not to leave the city, but he still went from Bristol to Manchester.

On 5 August, Manchester Police arrested him from the dressing room after the final day of the match.

According to the police, a sexual assault complaint was received on 4 August. The incident reportedly took place in Manchester on 23 July.

 A 24-year-old suspect was arrested and later released on bail. Police confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and that the victim is receiving official support.

It may be recalled that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) suspended Haider Ali after the allegations surfaced.

According to the PCB, the investigation concerns an incident that allegedly occurred during the Pakistan Shaheens’ recent tour of England.

The PCB said that, in line with its duty of care, legal assistance has been provided to Haider Ali to ensure his rights remain protected during the inquiry.

It added that, while respecting the legal process in the United Kingdom, the board will not interfere and will allow the proceedings to run their full course.

The provisional suspension takes immediate effect and will remain in place until the investigation is complete.

The PCB further stated that it reserves the right to take additional action under its Code of Conduct once the legal process concludes and all facts are established.
