Designation of BLA, Majeed Brigade as foreign terrorist organisations hailed

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Tuesday welcomed “the US decision designating Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and Majeed Brigade as Foreign Terrorist Organisations” (FTOs), as well as “adding Majeed Brigade as an alias to BLA”.

The Foreign Office in a statement said that Pakistan had proscribed Majeed Brigade as a terrorist entity since July 18, 2024.

It also recalled that “BLA/Majeed Brigade is involved in multiple terrorist attacks in Pakistan, including the heinous Jaffer Express terrorist incident and Khuzdar bus attack that resulted in the loss of precious lives”.

BULWARK AGAINST TERRORISM

At the same time, the Foreign Office also highlighted Pakistan’s decades-long fight against terrorism, describing the country as a “bulwark”.

“Pakistan remains a steadfast bulwark against terrorism. Our sacrifices have secured critical counter-terrorism successes, not only for the country, but for regional stability and global security.”

Earlier, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir during his visit to the US had also discussed the subject.

“Pakistan is the last bulwark against terrorism,” he and made it clear that “there is no sympathy for the terrorists and they would to face justice with full force.”

Field Marshal Asim Munir also noted that several terrorist outfits operating from Afghanistan were carrying out terrorism acts inside Pakistan.

Meanwhile, the Foreign Office also reiterated the country’s commitment to root out “terrorism in all its forms and manifestations” and the promise to cooperate with international community.

“Pakistan remains unwavering in its resolve to protect its citizens and eliminate terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. We remain committed to cooperating with the international community to overcome this common challenge.
