Usman Dar quits party after levelling serious allegations against PTI chairman

Usman Dar

ISLAMABAD: Usman Dar, a prominent member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has claimed that a planning for the events that led to the May 9 incidents was orchestrated under the leadership of the PTI chairman at his Zaman Park residence.

Talking to Dunya News, Dar alleged that the PTI chairman himself issued directives to target sensitive installations.

Dar alleged that PTI members like Hamad Azhar, Murad Saeed, Azam Swati, and Farrukh Habib were anti-military. They were also close to the PTI chairman, who directed the policy of confronting the military.

He said that a decision was taken that sensitive installations would be targeted in case the PTI chairman was arrested.

Dar stated the PTI’s long march in October 2022 aimed at stopping the appointment of Gen Asim Munir as the army chief and exert pressure on the army to remove him.

Dar also mentioned that the PTI chairman used a human shield to evade arrest. He said that the former prime minister conducted brain washing of workers for this purpose, and the incidents that occurred at the Judicial Complex Islamabad and Zaman Park were a result of this brain washing. He also announced to quit the PTI.

Dar stated that mere the condemnation of the May 9th incident was not enough. He said that May 9 is a dark stain that will take years to fade away.

Regarding his involvement in the May 9 events, Dar denied any connection. He expressed willingness to appear in court if summoned to testify about May 9 incidents.

Dar expressed deep disappointment with PTI’s current situation and attributed PTI’s decline to its chairman. He suggested that had PTI not split, May 9 might not have occurred, and those involved in the May 9 incidents should be held accountable.

He said that he was from a political family and joined the PTI after being influenced by the PTI chairman.

He highlighted his efforts in launching the youth programme and pursuing developmental projects in Sialkot.

Dar announced his departure from both politics and the PTI. He stated that he would not join any other political party. He urged all major political parties to come together and work for the betterment of Pakistan, stating, “We will exist if Pakistan exists.
