Israel

WEB DESK: Singer Hasan Raheem has expressed strong criticism of the Israeli government, directing his attention towards the relationship between the United States and Israel, which he believes contributes to the suffering of Palestinians.

The Peechay Hutt singer took to his X to voice his concerns.

Shortly after, Raheem shared another post, encouraging his fellow countrymen and women to support locally manufactured products. He stressed the importance of boycotting products from countries that support Israel’s policies, describing such boycotts as a means to exert pressure.

Many pro-Palestine supporters are also circulating calls for the boycott of Israeli businesses and connections with multinational corporations under the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) campaign.

This is not the first time Raheem has used his platform to shed light on the dehumanisation faced by Palestinians. The ongoing conflict, which has spanned decades, witnessed a recent escalation when Hamas fighters breached the border on October 7.

Israel reported a significant loss of life, with 1,400 casualties, the majority being civilians, and over 200 hostages taken in a single day, marking it as the deadliest in the nation’s 75-year history.

In response, Israel launched a sustained bombardment campaign in the small Palestinian enclave, home to 2.3 million people, resulting in a death toll of at least 9,061 individuals, including 3,760 children and 2,326 women, as reported by Gaza health authorities.
