Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf’s (PTI) founder Imran Khan challenged Islamabad High Court’s (IHC) decision to remove him from PTI’s chairmanship in the Supreme Court on Saturday.
The former prime minister filed a petitioned in which he requested to upturn the IHC’s December 6 verdict.
The IHC in its verdict upheld Imran Khan’s disqualification by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in the Toshakhana case.
In the petition, Khan pointed out that he had challenged the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) decision regarding his party’s chairmanship and parliamentary membership. While the case was going on in LHC, another petition was filed in the IHC.
The petition further adds that the appeal to withdraw the case from IHC was denied. The petition urges to either annul the IHC’s verdict, or transfer it to the LHC.
The Election Commission of Pakistan, National Assembly Speaker and other parties were also named in the petition as respondents.
