Proposed names revealed for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet

PESHAWAR: The curtain has been partially drawn on the lineup for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) cabinet, as proposed names of its members emerge, awaiting the crucial nod from the founding chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan.

The provincial cabinet has a majority of PTI-backed independents and therefore nominated names are awaiting final approval by the former chairman of PTI.

Sources close to the decision-making process have disclosed that a total of 12 ministers are slated to form the initial phase of the provincial cabinet. Among the frontrunners for key positions, the name of former Speaker Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani stands tall, proposed to assume the role of senior provincial minister.

Hailing from various districts across the region, the proposed cabinet proposes Arshad Ayub, representing Haripur, and the late Malik Liaquat Ali, hailing from Swat among those suggested to join the provincial administration.

Other notable mentions in the proposed lineup include Dr Amjad and Shakeel Ahmed from Malakand, Khaliqur Rehman from Nowshera, and Tariq Mehmood Aryan from Mardan.

Additionally, the proposed cabinet sees representation from Swabi through Faisal Khan Tarkai and from Charsadda through Fazl Shakur Khan and Arif Ahmadzai. Meena Khan Afridi is also slated to be part of the cabinet, representing Peshawar.

Notably, the esteemed position of finance adviser is earmarked for former provincial minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra.
