Weather update: Sudden floods likely across KP, GB, and Balochistan

Islamabad: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) issued a weather alert warning of potential flash floods in local water inlets across northern Pakistan on Thursday.
According to the PMD, from Friday till Saturday, residents in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) are warned of a high possibility of local flash floods due to heavy rainfall.

In Balochistan, heavy showers of rain will increase chances of sudden floods in Gwadar, Turbat, Kech, Noushki, Ziarat, Awaran, Naseerabad, Barkhan, Pishin, Harnai, Zhob, Chagai, and Kharan.
Similarly, from Friday till Sunday, the Met Office warns of flash floods in local rivers across KP, in particular Manshera, Abbottabad, Kohistan, Dir, Swat, and Chitral.
Chances of heavy rainfall leading to sudden localized floods are also high throughout Kashmir. Residents are advised to remain vigilant, stay indoors, and stay away from local bodies of water.
The Met Office also warned that there is a high chance of landslides from Friday till Sunday in KP, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and northern Punjab – Murree and its surrounding regions.
Authorities advised residents and tourists to remain vigilant, with the former to take precautions to ensure the safety of people and their property. Meanwhile, tourists were advised not to travel to these areas until the weather improves.

The Met Office warned of heavy winds, hailstorms, and even lightning that may damage crops, electric poles, vehicles, and solar panels. They also pose a huge risk to human life.
The authorities have advised residents in these areas to stay indoors and take necessary precautions to avoid any potential harm. The public is advised to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts and prepare for evacuation if called by local authorities.
