WEB DESK: A significant milestone has been achieved in the realm of revenue collection in Punjab, Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with a total of over Rs400 billion amassed since the inception of the e-stamping system.
This revelation surfaced during a recent progress review meeting chaired by Chairman Faisal Yousaf of the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) on Friday. The meeting, attended by PITB Director General (DG) e-Governance Sajid Latif and other officials, shed light on the remarkable outcomes of this innovative system.
Under the online platform devised through collaborative efforts between PITB and the Board of Revenue (BoR), citizens have embraced the convenience of digital transactions, surpassing expectations.
To date, the system has facilitated over 28.4 million challans processed, alongside the issuance of 19.3 million stamp papers. Remarkably, Punjab alone has contributed over Rs371.2 billion, Sindh over Rs27.1 billion, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over Rs1.75 billion to the collective revenue through this streamlined mechanism.
Chairman Faisal Yousaf expressed satisfaction with the success of the e-stamping system, highlighting its pivotal role in modernising and enhancing transparency in revenue generation.
By digitising the issuance of stamp papers, the system has not only replaced the traditional method but has also bolstered revenue streams while mitigating risks associated with fraud, financial malpractice, and forgery.
