Qualcomm to unveil processor for Galaxy S25 in October

Samsung S25 processor

WEB DESK: Qualcomm is set to unveil the processor for the upcoming Galaxy S25 series, expected to be the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, during its annual Snapdragon Summit in October 2024.

The event will take place from October 21-23 in Maui, Hawaii, continuing the tradition of hosting the summit in this scenic location.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is anticipated to power the Galaxy S25 series in several markets, including the USA. Qualcomm previously announced that this processor will feature new custom Oryon CPU cores, which debuted with the Snapdragon X Elite, a flagship ARM chip designed for computers and laptops.

The recently unveiled Galaxy Book 4 Edge is one of the devices equipped with this new technology.

Historically, Samsung has utilized Snapdragon chipsets for its Galaxy S series in specific regions like China and the US, while opting for its in-house Exynos chips in other markets. However, for the Galaxy S23 series, Samsung deviated from this strategy by globally equipping all models with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 For Galaxy chip.

The company returned to its traditional approach with the Galaxy S24 series, and this is expected to continue with the Galaxy S25 series, which is likely to be released in January 2025.

The Galaxy S25 lineup, expected to include the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra, will showcase the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4’s capabilities. Meanwhile, the Exynos 2500, Samsung’s upcoming flagship chip, is rumored to offer significant improvements in performance and efficiency.

This chip is expected to be fabricated using Samsung Foundry’s SF3 process node with GAA architecture, aimed at reducing current leakage and enhancing efficiency.

Samsung has reportedly assembled a dedicated team of engineers to optimize the new Exynos chip’s performance and efficiency, reflecting the company’s commitment to closing the gap with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors.
