Debt relief from China could help lower electricity costs: PM Shehbaz

LAHORE: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Sunday that if China agrees to extend Pakistan’s loan repayment period to five to seven years, This extension, he noted, would enable the government to reduce inflation, including lowering electricity prices.
The prime minister made these remarks during a meeting with journalists at his Model Town residence in Lahore. The journalists had recently returned from an official visit to China, which was organized by the China Public Diplomacy Association.
The senior journalists included Shiraz Hasnat, Salman Ghani, Aamir Mir, Khizr Gondal, Khalid Hussain, Azam Malik, and Abdul Mateen.
PM Shehbaz Sharif stated that work on the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is advancing rapidly. He also noted that the recent visit of Chinese experts to Pakistan has led to promising developments in enhancing cooperation across various sectors.

He also mentioned that several Chinese companies will be investing in Pakistan in the near future, he added that there would be no compromise on the security of Chinese nationals working in Pakistan.
