Rain brings pleasant weather to Lahore, Faisalabad


Lahore smog lifted

LAHORE: Residents in Lahore were met with unexpectedly pleasant weather in early hours of Tuesday (today) as scattered rainfall fell across various neighbourhoods.

As per sources, neighbourhoods across the provincial capital, including Mason Road, Jail Road, Mall Road and surrounding regions received rainfall.

The unexpected showers brought a much-needed respite for the city, with many residents enjoining the pleasant weather in Lahore.

In response, Lahore’s Commissioner visited Cordoba Chowk to assess the situation. He was accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner and Managing Director of Water and Sanitation Agency, Lahore (WASA).

The commissioner reviewed the city’s drainage arrangements and noted that the drainage teams had been working late into the night to ensure proper and quick removal of water.

This would help prevent pluvial flooding, a menace that has plagued cities across Pakistan, particularly, Karachi.

The Lahore Commissioner stated that authorities were committed to ‘upholding’ effective water drainage and  maintenance.

Meanwhile, Sheikhupura also experienced intermittent rainfall, causing pluvial flooding in low-lying areas.

Faisalabad also witnessed sporadic rainfall, though the impact was less severe.
