ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is under investigation for imposing heavy costs on taxpayers for integrating their businesses online through a private company.
It has been revealed that the FBR failed to submit a timely response to the Federal Tax Ombudsman during the investigation.
Additionally, the FBR is also being investigated for allegations of breaching confidentiality under Section 216 of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001.
According to Express News, tax lawyer Waheed Shehzad Butt stated that taxpayers expect the FBR to uphold the law and respect constitutional rights.
The ongoing probe highlights concerns about the transparency and accountability of the revenue authority in handling taxpayers’ affairs.
