Intraday trade: PKR rises 6 paisa against US dollar

KARACHI: The Pakistani rupee (PKR) showed a slight improvement against the US dollar (USD) on Tuesday, appreciating by 0.02 per cent during the early trading hours in the interbank market.
The rupee stood at Rs277.63 in the morning, gaining Re0.06 against the dollar.
Since the start of the current fiscal year, the PKR has strengthened by 65.38 paisa, or 0.24 per cent, against the USD. So far this calendar year, it has appreciated by Rs4.17, marking a 1.50 per cent increase.
Previous closing and PKR’s performance against other foreign currencies
On Monday, however, the PKR had depreciated by 7.45 paisa, or 0.03 per cent, ending the session at Rs277.69 per USD, down from the previous closing rate of Rs277.61.
In comparison to other major currencies, the rupee weakened against the Japanese Yen, declining by 0.39 paisa (0.21 per cent) to close at 1.8532 from 1.8493.
Against the British Pound, the PKR gained 70.81 paisa (0.20 per cent), closing at 361.56 compared to 362.27 the previous day.
On the other hand, the rupee saw a minor gain of 2.09 paisa (0.05 per cent) against the Chinese Yuan, ending the day at 39.03.
However, it fell by 2.03 paisa (0.03 per cent) against the UAE Dirham to close at 75.60, and dropped 2.96 paisa (0.04 per cent) against the Saudi Riyal, finishing at 73.94.
The rupee also lost 60.46 paisa (0.19 per cent) against the Swiss Franc, settling at 321.01, while it depreciated by 24.73 paisa (0.08 per cent) against the Euro, closing at 301.28.
