Pakistani rupee closes at Rs278.04 against US dollar

KARACHI: The Pakistani rupee (PKR) on the third trading day of the week closed in red against the US dollar (USD).

According to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the PKR dropped 0.03 per cent which translates to nine paisa against the greenback and ended the day at Rs278.04.

The home unit was seen range bound as it witnessed an intraday high of Rs278.10 with low of Rs277.90 per dollar.

Local exchange companies quoted the greenback at Rs279 for selling and Rs276.50 for buying.

The rupee also remained nearly unchanged against other major currencies. Against the British Pound, PKR dropped nearly 74 paisa and closed at Rs352.92.

However, PKR was up by 21 paisa against the Euro and ended the trading session at Rs293.96.

It is worth adding that the Pakistani currency has so far gained 29.89 paisa or 0.11 per cent against the American currency since the start of 2024.
