Two Israeli army reservists arrested for alleged espionage for Iran

TEL AVIV: Two former reservists of the Israeli army were detained on allegations of espionage for Iran, Israeli media reported on Monday.
The arrests were carried out by Israel’s internal security agency, Shin Bet, in conjunction with the police, who claim the accused sought financial compensation in exchange.

Yuri Eliaspov, the primary suspect, previously served in the Iron Dome air defence unit. He is accused of sharing classified information with an Iranian operative. Reports indicate that Eliaspov initiated contact with the operative in September 2024.
Eliaspov is also alleged to have connected his associate, Georgi Andreev, with the same Iranian operative, who was located at the Kirya military base in Tel Aviv.

Meanwhile, Iranian media reported that the two former Israeli reservists demonstrated support for Iran by writing messages on a wall in Tel Aviv.
