ISLAMABAD: A day after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder and former prime minister Imran Khan penned a third open letter to Army Chief Gen Syed Asim Munir highlighting alleged rigging in the 2024 general election, which he said “brought corrupt elements to power,” the army chief said, “I have not received any letter from anyone. If I do, I will forward it to the prime minister.”

In an informal chat with journalists during a luncheon at the Prime Minister’s House in honour of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the army chief dismissed reports about the letter, saying, “These are all just political tactics.”

He further said that the country was progressing in a positive direction, and development was taking place and Pakistan must continue moving forward.

Talking to the media outside Adiala jail alongside other lawyers, Imran Khan’s counsel Faisal Chaudhry said that the PTI founder had dictated the contents of the letter to party leaders. The letter consists of six points, he said.

Faisal Chaudhry said that Imran Khan had outlined all the points in the third letter and issued instructions accordingly. The letter included topics such as deep structural reforms and the damage caused to democracy by government policies.

Chaudhry said that in his third letter, Imran Khan has highlighted how the election was rigged to give a minority control over the majority. The letter has also highlighted that money launderers have been given power, he said indicating that the contents of the letter were expected to be made public today.

According to Chaudhry, Imran Khan has said in the letter that terrorism was rising due to the absence of the rule of law, 1.8 million people have left the country, and $20 billion in capital had been moved abroad.

Khan also said that when PTI left office, economic growth was at 6.4 per cent.

Chaudhry added that Pakistan ranks 140th on the World Justice Project Index.

Regarding Sher Afzal Marwat, he said that the party would clarify its stance but refrained from confirming or denying any decision related to his expulsion from the party, stating that it was an internal party matter.
