Sindh CM celebrates democracy on Charter anniversary

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has issued a message celebrating democratic values, on the anniversary of the Charter of Democracy.

Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto brought democratic forces together on one platform through the charter, he said, adding that Charter of Democracy became the foundation for the end of the Musharraf dictatorship and the restoration of democracy.

The foundation of the charter was laid on Benazir Bhutto’s philosophy of “democracy is the best revenge”, Murad Ali Shah said.

The 18th Amendment was made on the basis of this document, which made provincial autonomy possible, Sindh CM added.

The Parliament was strengthened by removing 58(2)(b) from the Constitution. The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) established new traditions by burying political revenge through CoD, he added.

The Charter of Democracy set an example of political maturity and strengthening institutions, Sindh Chief Minister said.
