Quetta Gladiators defeat Islamabad United, reach PSL 10 finals


Quetta Gladiators advanced to the final of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 after defeating Islamabad United by 30 runs.

LAHORE: The Quetta Gladiators advanced to the final of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 after defeating Islamabad United by 30 runs.

In the match, Quetta Gladiators bowled first and set a target of 210 runs. Meanwhile, Islamabad United, in their chase, were bowled out by 179 runs in 19.4 overs.

Sahibzada Farhan was the top scorer for United, making 52 runs. Salman Agha contributed 44 runs and Rassie van der Dussen added 35 runs,

The Gladiators’ bowling attack was led by Usman Tariq, who took 3 wickets. Mohammad Amir, Faheem Ashraf and Mohammad Waseem each took 2 wickets.

The victory marks the first time Quetta Gladiators have reached the PSL finals since 2019, when they won the championship in the league’s fourth edition.

Islamabad United started off the tenth edition strong, winning their first five matches. Sahibzada Farhan emerged as the top run-scorer of the season, while Jason Holder led the bowling attack with 15 wickets.

However, the team faced challenges after losing to Lahore Qalandars, which affected their momentum. Despite this, they secured their playoff spot by defeating the Karachi Kings in their final group match.

Quetta Gladiators, on the other hand, had a mixed start to the season, winning their opening match but losing the next two. They finished at the top of the points table with seven wins later, with players like Hasan Nawaz scoring 317 runs during the season.

The Gladiators had previously defeated United in their last two encounters, as well.
