Nawaz Sharif stressed that PM Shehbaz is giving special attention to the uplift of Gilgit-Baltistan, noting that his commitment to the region reflects his own vision.

Referring to ongoing projects, he said a road project worth over Rs60 billion has significantly reduced distances across the region, improving connectivity and boosting economic activity. Under the plan, the Red Zone and Extended Red Zone will remain completely closed to all traffic. The Expressway from Koral to Zero Point will also be shut, while traffic on Srinagar Highway may face intermittent suspension.

Heavy traffic will be restricted from entering Islamabad from all directions, with authorities advising transporters to avoid the city.

For residents, alternative routes have been designated. Citizens of G-5, G-6, G-7, F-6, and F-7 are advised to use Ninth Avenue via Margalla Road for travel between Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Traffic from Faisal Avenue towards Zero Point will be diverted to Ninth Avenue.

In case of closure between Zero Point and Koral Chowk, commuters may use Ninth Avenue from Srinagar Highway and proceed via Stadium Road, Murree Road, Chandni Chowk, and Rawal Road to reach Koral.

LAHORE: Citizens across Punjab have been jolted by a renewed increase in roti prices after tandoor owners announced a sudden change in rates.

In Lahore, roti will now be sold at Rs15, while in some parts of the province, the price has reached Rs20 per piece.

Previously, roti was widely available at Rs14 across Punjab, but the latest increase has added to the financial burden on locals.

Areas where prices have been increased include Shad Bagh, Samanabad, Iqbal Town, and other localities.

Tandoor owners attribute the hike to rising prices of LPG gas and flour, adding that if gas and flour prices decrease, roti rates will also be reduced accordingly.

The President of the Nan Roti Association said that gas supply remains irregular and LPG is being sold at very high prices.

He further said that they will formally approach the administration to seek an official revision in roti prices.

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday imposed a one-year ban on Sri Lanka T20 team captain Dasun Shanaka after breaking away with the contract being dealt with him.

Shanaka unilaterally violated the PSL player registration contract on March 21, deciding not taking part in the PSL, according to the country’s cricket body.

Shanaka, following the PCB’s ban, will not be able to feature in the PSL 12^th edition, though he apologised for breaching the player registration contract.

PCB issued bans and suspensions against multiple players in the going PSL edition. Mostly related to contract breaches or code-of-conduct violations, especially involving PSL vs IPL commitments.

Earlier, Zimbabwe origin Blessing Muzarabani also gained a two-year PSL ban after he withdrew from his PSL commitment to join an IPL franchise.

Likewise, national team player Fakhar Zaman was also given a two-match suspension in PSL 11. He was accused of ball-tampering allegations, which was later upheld on appeal.

LOUISIANA: A tragic mass shooting in Shreveport, Louisiana, left at least eight children dead on Sunday, local authorities confirmed.

According to police, the victims were aged between one and 14 years. Officials said at least 10 people were shot in total, though details about the condition of the survivors were not immediately shared.

A spokesperson for the Shreveport Police Department said the incident occurred shortly after 6 a.m. and is being treated as a domestic disturbance. Some of the children were reportedly related to the suspected gunman.
