Abu Dhabi launches ADRA for business registration and licencing

DUBAI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES: The Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) has unveiled the Abu Dhabi Registration and Licensing Authority (ADRA), a key initiative aimed at enhancing and regulating the emirate’s business landscape, reported nukta.com

This establishment follows a resolution from the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and is tasked with overseeing the registration of businesses both in the emirate and its non-financial economic free zones, while also coordinating with relevant organizations to simplify licensing processes.

ADRA, committed to ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations throughout Abu Dhabi’s mainland and its non-financial economic free zones, adheres to anti-money laundering (AML) standards, the prevention of financing for suspicious activities, and tackling illicit organisations.

To support these efforts, ADRA will create a unified database that consolidates business data across the emirate, facilitating more efficient management of the commercial registry and regulatory operations.

Utilising advanced digital solutions, ADRA aims to simplify the establishment and growth of businesses, encouraging investment and fostering a robust business ecosystem.

The authority will introduce new types of licences designed to draw in talent, investors, and entrepreneurs, enabling them to take advantage of Abu Dhabi’s diverse, resilient economy.

Ahmed Jasim Al Zaabi, Chairman of ADDED, described the launch of ADRA as a significant milestone in Abu Dhabi’s economic evolution, adding that ADRA will accelerate the emirate’s economic growth and diversification by providing streamlined procedures, expert support, and access to a vibrant business environment.
