Here’s when Atlas Honda will officially launch electric bikes in Pakistan

LAHORE: Atlas Honda, Pakistan’s largest motorcycle manufacturer, is set to enter the electric vehicle (EV) market with its first electric bikes by June 2025, according to industry sources.

This move comes as the company seeks to maintain its stronghold in the local motorcycle market, where it currently holds an impressive 85 per cent share.

Despite government incentives, such as reduced taxes, Pakistan’s electric two-wheeler market remains underdeveloped, with EV bikes making up less than 1 per cent of total motorcycle sales in 2024.

High costs, limited charging infrastructure, and consumer concerns have slowed EV adoption. However, industry experts believe Atlas Honda’s trusted brand and established local manufacturing network could significantly shift the market.

With a production capacity of around 1.3 million motorcycles annually and over 95 per cent of components sourced domestically, Atlas Honda is well-positioned to tailor its electric bikes to the local market. The company’s in-house research and development team will focus on creating models suited to Pakistan’s unique conditions.

Atlas Honda’s electric bikes are expected to feature a 48-watt battery, offering a range of up to 65 kilometres on a full charge.

Charging time is estimated at six to seven hours, and a portable charger will allow users to charge at home or the office. The bikes are expected to be priced slightly higher than existing options, reflecting their higher-quality components.

Initial production is projected at 25,000 units, with an annual output of around 8,000 units thereafter. This cautious approach signals the company’s optimism about the future of electric mobility in Pakistan.
