Budget finalisation: Aurangzeb foresees positive results for public

WEB DESK: Federal Minister for Finance & Revenue, Muhammad Aurangzeb, currently engaged in finalising the budget for FY2024-25, has assured that the government will make decisions based on mutual consultation to benefit both the public and the business community.

Aurangzeb made these remarks during a meeting with a delegation from the Pakistan Business Council (PBC), the nation’s leading corporate advocacy group. According to a statement from the Finance Division, the PBC delegation, led by Chairman Shabbir Diwan, met with the Finance Minister at the Finance Division on Monday.

The Finance Division’s statement highlighted the PBC’s appreciation of the government’s ongoing efforts and its discussion of the Federal Budget 2024-25 with Aurangzeb. The PBC delegation also presented specific suggestions and tax proposals for consideration.

Aurangzeb expressed his gratitude for the PBC’s insights, noting, “Their recommendations are being noted and will be considered in the finalisation of the budget to whatever extent possible.”

The minister underscored the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) ongoing initiatives to broaden the tax base and bring more retailers into the tax net. He reiterated that decisions would be made through mutual consultation to ensure favourable outcomes for both the public and the business community.

The meeting was also attended by Minister of State for Finance & Revenue, Ali Pervez Malik, and Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Malik Amjed Zubair Tiwana.
