ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb has left for Spain to represent Pakistan at the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development.
The four-day conference, beginning July 1 in the city of Seville, will bring together a large number of global leaders, policymakers and development experts to deliberate on sustainable and innovative financial strategies for developing and emerging economies. The forum also aims to accelerate progress on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
During his visit, the finance minister will attend the main plenary sessions as well as several high-level side events. He will be the guest of honour at a key session titled “Debt for Development: DCS Financing Approach”, where he is expected to present Pakistan’s perspective on restructuring development finance, debt management, and the prospects of deposit protection.
Senator Aurangzeb will also co-chair a multi-stakeholder roundtable discussion on improving access to and use of finance for private enterprises.
He is scheduled to deliver a keynote address during a policy dialogue hosted by the International Business Forum on the role of credit ratings in facilitating investment in emerging markets and developing economies.
Additionally, the minister will speak at a session focused on expanding financial support for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), also hosted by the International Business Forum.
He will address another roundtable on “Revitalising Global Partnerships for Development”, and take part in a UNICEF-led dialogue on sustainable and innovative financing for children and youth, aimed at fostering investment in their future.
On the sidelines of the conference, the finance minister will hold meetings with several key international figures, including Secretary-General of the International Chamber of Commerce, Mr John Denton, and the Netherlands’ Deputy Minister for Development, Mr Steven Collet.
The finance minister’s participation in the conference reflects Pakistan’s commitment to engaging in global financial discussions and contributing actively to the search for innovative solutions and stronger international cooperation for sustainable development.
