WEB DESK: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif convened a high-level meeting on Thursday to discuss bolstering cooperation and trade ties with Azerbaijan, focusing on economic and investment domains.

Highlighting Pakistan’s strategic position as a natural economic corridor for Central Asian states to the sea, the Prime Minister underscored the longstanding fraternal relations between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.

Highlighting the growing foreign investment in Pakistan, attributed to the government’s business-friendly policies, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called for a comprehensive strategy to enhance bilateral trade efficiency and expand current trade volumes with Azerbaijan.

The meeting also reviewed initiatives aimed at augmenting trade capacity and investment opportunities between both nations. Discussions centered on significant prospects for energy cooperation and progress towards a preferential trade agreement.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Minister for Planning and Development & Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal, along with several federal ministers and senior officials, were among the attendees who briefed the Prime Minister on these initiatives.
