Toyota is launching a baby Land Cruiser soon

WEB DESK: Toyota Motor Corporation is poised to introduce a new addition to its iconic Land Cruiser family, expectedly named the “Land Hopper.”

This compact SUV, often dubbed the baby Land Cruiser, has ignited widespread interest and speculation.

Rumours suggest that Toyota aims to compete with the immensely successful Suzuki Jimny by launching this compact SUV equipped with off-roading capabilities.

A recent video, circulating on the internet and shared by PoloTo on YouTube, has captured the attention of enthusiasts.

The video showcases a white compact off-roader SUV, blending design elements from top-of-the-line Land Cruiser models and the recently revealed Toyota Compact Cruiser concept.

Numerous online reports hint that the Land Hopper might make its debut at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show later this month.

Positioned as Toyota’s most affordable off-road-ready SUV, this compact vehicle is designed to appeal to adventurous drivers thanks to its smaller size and accessible price point.

The Land Hopper’s design is a standout feature, drawing inspiration from the larger Land Cruiser 250. With a square body and rugged overfenders, this compact SUV exudes a bold and robust aura.

Preliminary estimates suggest the Land Hopper could measure around 4,490 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,850 mm in height.

Toyota is considering a variety of powertrain options for the Land Hopper. Possibilities include a 1.8-litre gasoline NA engine, potentially coupled with a hybrid system akin to the Corolla Cross.

Additionally, a hybrid variant with a 2L gasoline engine and a 2.5L hybrid system, similar to the RAV4, is under consideration. Some reports even hint at a 1.5-litre turbo hybrid engine.

While unconfirmed, there’s speculation about the potential introduction of an electric version in the future.

In addition to the Land Hopper, Toyota is reportedly planning the launch of the Compact Cruiser EV. This SUV, showcased as a concept in December 2022 and winner of the 2022 World Car Design Award, aligns with Toyota’s commitment to electrification.

Whether it will be unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show alongside the Land Hopper remains uncertain, but it signifies Toyota’s dedication to providing eco-friendly mobility options.
