WEB DESK: In a move to uplift workers in Balochistan, Jawad Sohrab Malik, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, inaugurated transformative welfare projects totaling Rs1.8 billion.

Funded by the Workers Welfare Fund (WWF), these initiatives aim to improve living standards and educational opportunities for mine and industrial workers in the region.

The centerpiece is a Girls High School with Staff Residences in Muslim Bagh, Balochistan, designed to provide quality education to 5,605 children of mine and industrial workers.

With an investment of Rs700 Million, covering 63,000 square feet, the school represents a significant leap towards gender inclusivity and educational accessibility. SAPM Malik emphasised completing the project within 24 months.

Addressing housing needs, Malik laid the foundation for 100 worker residence quarters in Muslim Bagh, a Rs900 Million initiative covering 5 acres.

This aims to provide secure homes for 100 families, directly tackling the housing shortage among workers, with a completion target of 24 months.

Celebrating the completion of an educational project in Sibi, Balochistan, Malik opened its doors to 4,000 mine workers’ children, showcasing the government’s commitment to workers’ welfare.

During the inauguration, Malik highlighted the projects as more than structures, emphasising their role as foundations for families’ dreams. He reiterated the government’s dedication to ensuring every worker and their children have essential resources for prosperity.

Commending collaborative efforts with WWF and Workers Welfare Board Balochistan, Malik urged expediting project cycles and reaching smaller worker communities for widespread benefits. His directives to increase funding and comprehensive relief showcase commitment to national worker welfare.

This initiative aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision for a prosperous future for Pakistani workers, backed by a robust Rs1.8 billion investment from the Workers Welfare Fund.
