NEPRA approves Rs7 per unit hike in basic power tariff

WEB DESK: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved a notable increase in the basic power tariff, raising it by Rs7.12 per unit. The revised basic tariff for residential consumers now stands at Rs48.84 per unit.
Under the revised tariff structure, consumers using electricity from 201 to 300 units will now pay Rs34.26 per unit.
For those consuming between 301 and 400 units per month, the tariff has been increased by Rs7.02 per unit, setting it at Rs39.15.
Users consuming 401 to 500 units will see a hike of Rs6.12 per unit, bringing their rate to Rs41.36 per unit.
According to Geo News, consumers using 501 to 600 units and 601 to 700 units per month will also experience an increase of Rs6.12 per unit, with their rates set at Rs42.78 and Rs43.92 per unit respectively.
It is important to note that consumers using up to 200 units per month remain exempt from this tariff adjustment.
