KARACHI: Car sales in Pakistan clocked in at 14,762 units in May 2025, reflecting a 35 per cent year-on-year and 39 per cent month-on-month rise, according to the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association and Topline Securities Ltd.
The month-on-month increase was mainly due to lower base as April 2025 saw road closure in Sindh (due to strikes over canal issues) which delayed deliveries and thus lower sales.
On the other hand, a more stable macroeconomic environment, lower interest rates, easing inflation and improved consumer sentiment has supported the year-on-year growth, Topline Securities said.
This takes the car sales in the first 11 months, July-May period, of FY25 to 126,226 units – a 39 per cent increase from 90,545 units during the corresponding months of FY24, it added.
WHO IS THE BIGGEST GAINER
Meanwhile, the company-wise breakdown shows Sazgar Engineering (SAZEW) posted the highest month-on-month growth of 67 per cent and an 18 per cent year-on-year rise, mainly due to low sales in April.
The launch of the new facelift of HAVAL also supported higher sales.
On the other hand, total sales surged 111 per cent year-on-year to 9,495 units, up from 4,503 units in FY24, during the July-May period.

When it comes to Indus Motor, it posted a 2.4 per cent year-on-year and 48 per cent month-on-month increase in sales to 4,829 units — the highest monthly sales in nearly three years. This trend was driven by increased sales for Corolla, Yaris, and Cross, Topline Securities stated.
Honda Atlas Cars saw a 69 per cent year-on-year and 17 per cent month-on-month increase to 2,005 units in May 2025.
At the same time, Pak Suzuki posted a fall of 8 per cent year-on-year while a rise of 38 per cent month-on-month. The year-on-year and month-on-month figures for Hyundai Nishat are 58 per cent and 45 per cent respectively.
TWO AND THREE WHEELERS
The two and three wheelers sales increased by 26 per cent year-on-year and 11 per cent month-on-month, totalling 150,175 units in May 2025 which was a three-year high. This takes July-May FY25 sales to 1.4 million units, a 30 per cent year-on-year rise. Road Prince numbers are still awaited which can raise the total by around 2,000 units, Topline Securities added.
TRACTORS DOWN
The total tractor industry recorded sales of 2,184 units, a 29 per cent year-on-year fall while 36 per cent month-on-month rise. Tractor sale fell on YoY basis due to weak farm economics, in our view, Topline Securities maintained.
TRUCKS AND BUSES
Truck and bus sales in May 2025 were up 147 per cent year-on-year and 17 per cent month-on-month, reaching 610 units. This takes the July-May FY25 sales to 4,495 units, a 92 per cent increase from 2,345 units in the same period of FY24.
