WEB DESK: Cement exports from Pakistan experienced a notable upswing, marking a substantial 39.26 per cent increase during the initial eight months of the fiscal year 2023-24, compared to the corresponding period last year.
According to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the country’s cement exports reached US $163.900 million from July to February in the fiscal year 2023-24, contrasting with US $117.691 million recorded during the same period in the fiscal year 2022-23.
This surge in exports also translated into a significant rise in quantity, with cement shipments witnessing a remarkable 71.67 per cent increase, climbing from 2,473,225 metric tons to 4,245,717 metric tons.
However, on a year-on-year basis, there was a notable downturn in cement exports during February 2024 compared to the corresponding month in the previous year.
Exports during February 2024 stood at US $13.248 million, a decrease of 22.32 per cent from the US $17.055 million recorded in February 2023.
Moreover, analyzing the data on a month-on-month basis, it is evident that there was a decline of 10.05 per cent in cement exports during February 2024 when juxtaposed with January 2024, where exports were valued at US $14.728 million, as per the PBS statistics.
