ISLAMABAD: Changan Pakistan has rolled out a new trim of its popular sedan, the Alsvin, but instead of a long-awaited facelift, the company has decided to play with shades.
Dubbed the Alsvin Black Series, this edition is being offered across all three existing variants: 1.3L Manual Comfort, 1.5L DCT Comfort, and 1.5L DCT Lumiere.
A fresh shade, but no new shape
The move has left many wondering if a new paint job is really what the car needed. For more than four years, the Alsvin has carried the same body shape without any major upgrades.
Meanwhile, its price has climbed significantly, mirroring the upward trend seen with rivals like Toyota Yaris and Honda City. With Pakistani buyers growing hungrier for updates and fresher designs, the question is whether this all-black edition can truly keep sales ticking.
Blacked-out cabin and a few modern touches
To its credit, the Black Series isn’t just about cosmetic tweaks on the outside. The car now offers an exclusive all-black interior, including leather seats, door trims, armrest, and even the headliner.
In the top-end Lumiere variant, Changan has also added a sizeable 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The setup brings integrated Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, screen mirroring, built-in navigation, and a real-time tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
On the outside, buyers now get six colour options, including two fresh shades, Celestial Red and Neptune Blue, alongside the black accents that define this new edition.
No price hike for now
Interestingly, Changan has chosen not to raise prices for this update. The Black Series starts at Rs4,039,000, and the company is throwing in savings of up to Rs275,000 along with two years of free periodic maintenance. Considering the local car market’s pricing trends, this restraint could help attract buyers looking for value in the entry-level sedan segment.
A shifting market
Beyond the car itself, Changan’s timing is worth noting. The Pakistani car market is no longer the three-brand monopoly it once was. Buyers who previously wouldn’t consider anything other than Toyota, Honda, or Suzuki are now open to exploring Chinese and other emerging brands.

Changan has been riding this wave, frequently touting the success of its Oshan X7, which it claims has become the country’s highest-selling seven-seater SUV.
By extending this momentum to its sedan lineup, the company may be hoping to draw in more customers with subtle design updates while banking on its growing brand acceptance.
The used car angle
For anyone hesitant about buying brand new, Alsvin prices in the used car market currently range between Rs2.6 million and Rs5.1 million on platforms like OLX and PakWheels. That spread shows how much demand the car has built up since its launch, despite the lack of major design changes.
The Alsvin Black Series is unlikely to silence critics calling for a complete facelift, but it does add a dose of style and features that could appeal to new buyers. Whether a darker cabin and a bigger screen are enough to boost sales in 2025 will be something to watch closely.
