ISLAMABAD: The upcoming Pakistan Auto Show, set for October 25, 2024, promises an exciting lineup of new vehicles, catering to a wide range of preferences, from petrol enthusiasts to hybrid and electric vehicle (EV) fans.

Among the highlights are the new hybrid models of the Kia Sportage, Sorento, and Hyundai Elantra, which aim to offer a blend of style and advanced technology at Pakistan Auto Show 2024.

Changan Pakistan is also making headlines with its teaser for the “Lumin,” a compact electric vehicle expected to make its debut at the show.

First introduced internationally in April 2022, the Lumin’s arrival in Pakistan is still uncertain, and the company has yet to confirm if or when it will be launched in the local market.

However, if introduced, it could become a serious contender among Pakistan’s kei cars, where compactness and affordability are key considerations for buyers.

Pricing will play a crucial role, as customers looking for small hatchbacks are generally unwilling to pay high prices for compact cars. That said, the Lumin’s all-electric nature could appeal to those interested in fuel efficiency and city-friendly size.

The Lumin is equipped with various battery options: an initial offering of 12.92 kWh and 17.65 kWh batteries provides a range of 155 km and 210 km, respectively, while a larger 27.99 kWh battery delivers up to 301 km on a single charge.

It is powered by a front-wheel-drive (FWD) electric motor, producing 30 kW (41 hp), with a more powerful 35 kW (48 hp) option also available. Although these power figures may seem modest, they are well-suited for city driving, offering both agility and efficiency.
