Consultations begin ahead of ‘Uraan’ launch today

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has officially begun consultations with provincial governments and key stakeholders to implement and achieve the goals of the ‘Uraan Pakistan’ initiative.
The first workshop in this consultation series is set to take place today, Monday, February 24, in Karachi. Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, along with Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, and Sindh’s Minister for Finance and Planning, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, will address participants at the workshop.
This gathering will bring together significant stakeholders, including Dr Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman of the Higher Education Commission, Dr Nadeem Javed, Vice Chancellor of the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics, as well as provincial ministers, secretaries of provincial departments, media representatives, and officials from the Chamber of Commerce and Industries.
‘Uraan Pakistan’— ambitious blueprint or another aspirational document?
During the workshop, various working groups will be established to enhance coordination between federal and provincial governments, facilitate effective policy discussions, and garner input aimed at achieving the objectives of ‘Uraan Pakistan’. The recommendations developed by these groups will be presented at the end of the workshop, leading to the issuance of a joint communiqué.
Following the consultative session, Federal Minister for Planning, Ahsan Iqbal, and Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah, are expected to hold a joint press conference. They will share the outcomes of the workshop, discuss the role of Sindh in the ‘Uraan Pakistan’ initiative, and outline a roadmap for future advancements.
This consultative process marks a crucial step in promoting economic development, educational reform, industrial growth, and sustainable progress in Pakistan as part of the “’Uraan Pakistan’ vision.
