China, Pakistan discuss CPEC upgradation

WEB DESK: China’s Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, expressed China’s readiness to collaborate with Pakistan in advancing an enhanced version of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), as reported by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The statement came following a meeting between Wang Yi and Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mohammad Ishaq Dar, held in Beijing on Wednesday.

Dar’s visit to Beijing, which commenced on Monday, marks an official four-day visit aimed at co-chairing the 5th Pakistan-China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue.

During his stay, Dar is slated to engage in discussions with Chinese leaders, senior officials, and key business entities. These meetings are expected to bolster bilateral ties and foster cooperation in various sectors.

In a separate development, Dar met with Zhang Ming, the Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO). During the meeting, Dar reiterated Pakistan’s staunch commitment to advancing the SCO’s security and development agenda.

According to Brecorder, he underscored Pakistan’s unwavering adherence to the SCO Charter and the core principles encapsulated in the ‘Shanghai Spirit.’
