Punjab CM orders timely completion of Defence Mor Flyover project in Lahore

LAHORE: The Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, affirmed that the successful completion of the Khalid Butt Chowk Underpass and Ghora Chowk Defence Mor Flyover projects will create a seamless corridor connecting Centre Point Gulberg to Ghora Chowk Defence Mor.

During his visit to the project sites on Friday, Chief Minister Naqvi, accompanied by provincial ministers Mansoor Qadir, Amir Mir, and Azfar Ali Nasir, reiterated the steadfast commitment to ensuring the timely completion of the projects, including the repair of associated structures.

He directed both the contractor and the Central Business District Authority to guarantee the projects’ timely completion.

Recognising the significance of citizen convenience, the Chief Minister instructed the Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) to oversee effective traffic management throughout the construction process. He emphasised the necessity of regular water sprinkling at the sites and stressed the importance of tree preservation.

During the inspection, ongoing works were meticulously examined, including a thorough assessment of the drainage well at Khalid Butt Chowk underpass.

Notably, 53 percent of the Khalid Butt Chowk Underpass and 36 percent of the Ghora Chowk Flyover have been completed within just 32 days.

There is high anticipation that the Khalid Butt Chowk Underpass will be open for traffic by the end of October. Commissioner Lahore Division, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, Chief Engineer LDA, and the contractor briefed the Chief Minister on the Khalid Butt Chowk Underpass Project.

Simultaneously, Central Business District Authority CEO Imran Amin provided updates on the progress of the Ghora Chowk Defence Mor Flyover project.

Chief Minister Naqvi expressed his satisfaction with the advancements made and reiterated the government’s dedication to enhancing public infrastructure for the citizens’ benefit.
