Diesel sales surge by 38.7 per cent in October: OCAC data

ISLAMABAD: Oil marketing companies (OMCs) in Pakistan recorded a notable increase in sales of petroleum products.
According to latest data released by the Oil Companies Advisory Council (OCAC), the sales in October were more than 18 per cent up and recorded at 1.49 million metric tonnes as compared to 1.26 million metric tonnes reported in the same period last year (SPLY).
Month-wise, the sales were up 17.4 per cent as opposed to sale of 1.27 million metric tonnes recorded in September 2024.
In the first four months of the ongoing fiscal year 2025, sales were record 2 per cent up at 5.18 million metric tonnes versus sales of 5.08 million metric tonnes in the same time last year.
Product-wise sales
Motor Spirit (MS) sales rose by 15 per cent to 0.67 million metric tonnes (MTs), High-Speed Diesel (HSD) sales increased by 22.4 per cent to 0.69 million metric tonnes and Furnace Oil (FO) sales were up by 7.5 per cent and recorded at 57,552 million metric tonnes.
On a month-on-month basis, sales of MS increased by 5.2 per cent while HSD saw a sharp rise of 38.7 per cent.
