Interbank closing: PKR slips 3.62 paisa against USD

KARACHI: The Pakistani rupee (PKR) experienced a minor depreciation of 3.62 paisa against the US dollar (USD) during Tuesday’s interbank session.

The local currency concluded trading at PKR 278.38 per USD, compared to the previous session’s closing of PKR 278.34 per USD.

Throughout the session, the rupee reached an intraday high (bid) of 278.65 and a low (ask) of 278.4. Meanwhile, in the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 277.41 for buying and 280.07 for selling.

In comparison to other major currencies, the rupee demonstrated mixed performance:

Japanese Yen (JPY): The PKR appreciated by 0.8 paisa, closing at 1.7218 from the previous 1.7298.

Chinese Yuan (CNY): The PKR lost 2.11 paisa, ending at 38.28 compared to 38.31 in the last session.

British Pound (GBP): The PKR strengthened by 46.93 paisa, closing at 351.45 from 351.92 previously.

Swiss Franc (CHF): The PKR weakened by 1.36 rupees, closing at 308.04 compared to 309.41 in the prior session.

Euro (EUR): The PKR depreciated by 70.68 paisa, settling at 298.39 from 297.69 previously.

U.A.E Dirham (AED): The PKR gained 0.98 paisa, closing at 75.78 from 75.79 a day earlier.

Saudi Riyal (SAR): The PKR appreciated by 0.56 paisa, ending at 74.2 compared to the previous 74.19.

This fluctuation in the Pakistani rupee’s value comes amid ongoing economic adjustments and market dynamics.
