Interbank closing: PKR drops by 16.18 paisa against USD

WEB DESK: On Monday, the Pakistani rupee (PKR) depreciated by 16.18 paisa against the US dollar (USD) during the interbank session, with the exchange rate settling at PKR 278.50 per USD.

This marks a slight decline from the previous week’s closing rate of PKR 278.34 per USD.

Throughout the day, the rupee reached an intraday high of PKR 278.75 (bid) and a low of PKR 278.55 (ask).

In the open market, exchange companies reported the dollar trading at PKR 278.00 for buying and PKR 280.00 for selling.

Comparatively, the Pakistani rupee’s performance against other major currencies on first trading day of the week was as follows:

CHF to PKR: The Swiss franc fell by 36.93 paisa, closing at PKR 314.78, down from PKR 315.15 in the previous session.

GBP to PKR: The British Pound decreased by PKR 1.25, ending at PKR 356.95 compared to PKR 358.21 the day before.

EUR to PKR: Against the Euro, the PKR appreciated by 13.07 paisa, closing at PKR 301.92, up from PKR 302.05.

CNY to PKR: The Chinese Yuan saw a loss of 1.02 paisa, closing at PKR 38.38, compared to PKR 38.39 previously.

JPY to PKR: The Japanese Yen experienced a decline of 0.29 paisa, with the PKR closing at PKR 1.8106 versus PKR 1.8077 a day earlier.

SAR to PKR: The Saudi Riyal appreciated by 4.51 paisa, ending at PKR 74.24, compared to PKR 74.19 the previous day.

AED to PKR: The UAE Dirham gained 4.41 paisa, closing at PKR 75.78, up from PKR 75.82.
