FBR forms committees to address Finance Bill 2024 anomalies

ISLAMABAD: Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Malik Amjed Zubair Tiwana, has announced the formation of two anomaly committees to address and resolve business and technical discrepancies in the Finance Bill 2024.
According to an official news release, the Anomaly Committee on Business will be led by Atif Akram Shaikh, President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), and Gohar Ijaz of the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA). The committee’s co-chairpersons will include Member Customs (Policy) Ashhad Jawad and Member IR Policy Amna Faiz Bhatty.
In parallel, the Anomaly Committee on Technical will be chaired by Adnan Rizvi, Managing Partner of KPMG. This committee will also have Ashhad Jawad and Amna Faiz Bhattiy serving as co-chairpersons.
These committees will also feature prominent business figures from various chambers of commerce and trade organisations, ensuring a diverse representation of industry stakeholders.
Both committees have been tasked with submitting their findings and recommendations by June 20, 2024, aiming to streamline the Finance Bill and address any issues that could hinder business operations or technical implementations.
