WEB DESK: Muhammad Aurangzeb is reportedly on track to assume the role of the country’s next finance minister, according to reliable sources on Tuesday.

This development comes as Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif prepares to finalise his federal cabinet appointments.

Sources suggest that Ishaq Dar, a former finance minister and a close associate of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif, is not being considered due to health issues.

However, there are indications that Dar might be offered another significant position, given his past challenges in revitalising the stalled International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme during the Pakistan Democratic Movement.

Muhammad Aurangzeb, previously serving as the President of HBL, is emerging as the leading candidate for the finance minister role, as per reports from Geo News.

With over 30 years of rich international banking experience, including stints as the CEO of JP Morgan’s Global Corporate Bank in Asia and various senior management roles, Aurangzeb brings a wealth of expertise to the table.
