Friday brings fluctuations for PSX, again

Pakistan Stock Exchange

KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) showed unprecedented growth on Thursday (yesterday), gaining 3,370 points to close at the historic high of 114,180.50 points.

On Friday, the index opened with an almost instant jump of nearly 500 points to touch 114,627.53 points. Within minutes of trading, the benchmark KSE-100 index grew by nearly 1,000 points to touch the morning’s highest at 115,172.44 points.

Soon after that, the market fell, recording a decline so steep that the index dropped even below the opening stage to hover around 114,094.39 points.

Before today, on Tuesday the PSX had undergone correction, experiencing similar volatility. While the market analysts are of the opinion that the recent rally is backed by strong and stable factors, the recent trends may also hint at a negative closing for today.

Yesterday, the index had posted massive growth, and some corrective decline is expected for today, despite overall improvement in the drivers of growth.
