Gold price rises by Rs300 per tola in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Gold prices in Pakistan edged higher on Wednesday, mirroring gains in the international market. 

According to data released by the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA), the price of gold rose by Rs300 per tola, bringing it to Rs354,665. The rate for 10 grams also increased by Rs258, reaching Rs304,068. 

In the global market, the price of gold climbed by $3 to settle at $3,330 per ounce, inclusive of a $20 premium, as reported by APGJSA. 

However, earlier fluctuations were also seen during the day, with gold per tola having briefly dropped by Rs3,800 to Rs354,365 before recovering. 

Silver prices also saw an uptick. The price per tola rose by Rs26 to stand at Rs3,764. 

Meanwhile, the Pakistani rupee registered a modest gain against the US dollar in early trade. The currency appreciated by 0.1 per cent in the interbank market, reaching Rs283.50 at 11am, up Re0.27 from the previous day’s closing rate of Rs283.77. 

On the global front, the US dollar remained under pressure on Wednesday as investors turned cautiously optimistic over a fragile ceasefire between Israel and Iran. The sentiment encouraged a shift towards riskier assets, keeping the greenback in check.
