ISLAMABAD: Buying a car in Pakistan, especially a new one within a specific budget, can be quite challenging. With the escalating car prices, even the most basic models are now out of reach for many.
Currently, the top variant of the ‘least expensive’ car in Pakistan, Suzuki Alto is priced at Rs3,045,000, while the entry-level model starts at Rs2,331,000. The base model, however, lacks essential features such as power steering, airbags, and matching side mirrors.
For those seeking a sedan family car under Rs5 million, there are a few options available. If you are looking for good fuel efficiency, comfort, and are not particularly inclined towards Toyota, the Honda City might be an attractive choice.
Among the affordable options in this category, the Honda City offers two base variants that fall under Rs5 million. The first is the Honda City 1.2L Manual, priced at Rs4,649,000.
This model is considered a solid family car, featuring decent trunk space, two airbags, ABS brakes, power windows, steering switches, an ECU immobiliser, and various other modern amenities. This makes it one of the most cost-effective sedans currently available in Pakistan.
The second variant, the Honda City 1.2L CVT, is available at just Rs40,000 more than the manual version. This minimal price difference might make the automatic variant a more appealing option for many buyers.
Honda City is also reputed for its superior fuel efficiency compared to other competitors in the 1300cc segment. Its 1.2L engine, while possibly perceived as underpowered given the car’s size, has not been a significant issue for current owners.
According to various Pakistani blogs and reports, owners of the Honda City 1.2L have indicated that the vehicle achieves a fuel efficiency of up to 16 kilometres per litre. Some reports suggest that the fuel average can be as low as 13 kilometres per litre in city driving conditions. This level of fuel consumption is considered reasonable given the car’s size.
The CVT transmission in the automatic model contributes to a smoother, more seamless driving experience, further enhancing its appeal.
