Interbank closing: PKR sheds 5.63 paisa against USD

KARACHI: On Tuesday, the Pakistani rupee (PKR) recorded a slight depreciation of 5.63 paisa, or 0.02 per cent, against the US dollar (USD) in the interbank market. The local currency settled at PKR 278.69 per USD, compared to the previous closing rate of PKR 278.63.

During the trading session, the currency exhibited an intraday high bid of PKR 278.80 and a low ask of PKR 278.60. In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at PKR 279.24 for buying and PKR 280.40 for selling.

British Pound in Pakistani rupee: The PKR strengthened by 2.03 rupees, with the British Pound closing at PKR 354.93, down from PKR 356.97.

Euro in Pakistani rupee: The PKR appreciated by 1.07 rupees against the Euro, ending the day at PKR 304.42 compared to PKR 305.49 previously.

Japanese Yen in Pakistani rupee: The PKR gained 2.94 paisa against the Japanese Yen, closing at PKR 1.9175, up from PKR 1.9469.

Swiss Franc in Pakistani rupee: The PKR experienced a loss of 2.19 rupees against the Swiss Franc, closing at PKR 325.43, down from PKR 327.63.

Saudi Riyal in Pakistani rupee: The PKR recorded a minor gain of 1.3 paisa, with the Saudi Riyal closing at PKR 74.24 compared to PKR 74.22.

UAE Dirham in Pakistani rupee: The PKR appreciated by 1.53 paisa, with the UAE Dirham closing at PKR 75.86, up from PKR 75.87.

Chinese Yuan in Pakistani rupee: The PKR saw a decline of 2.6 paisa, closing at PKR 39 against PKR 39.02 in the previous session.
