Interbank closing: PKR gains 2.5 paisa against USD

WEB DESK: In Thursday’s interbank session, the Pakistani rupee (PKR) appreciated by 2.5 paisa against the US dollar (USD), closing at PKR 278.38 per USD compared to the previous session’s closing of PKR 278.4 per USD.

During the session, the rupee experienced an intraday high bid of PKR 278.5 and a low ask of PKR 278.25. In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at PKR 277.75 for buying and PKR 280.50 for selling.

PKR’s performance against other currencies

Saudi Riyal: Closed at PKR 74.2, down 0.56 paisa from the previous day’s value of PKR 74.21.

UAE Dirham: Decreased by 0.58 paisa, closing at PKR 75.79 from PKR 75.79 the day before.

British Pound: Weakened by 36.56 paisa, closing at PKR 351.67 compared to PKR 352.04 the previous day.

Japanese Yen: Gained 0.24 paisa, closing at PKR 1.7339 versus PKR 1.7363 the day before.

Swiss Franc: Fell by 51.23 paisa, closing at PKR 310.12 compared to PKR 310.63 in the previous session.

Euro: Lost 30.74 paisa, closing at PKR 297.56 from the previous value of PKR 297.25.

Chinese Yuan: Decreased by 1.5 paisa, closing at PKR 38.3 against PKR 38.31 from the previous session.

The appreciation of the PKR against the USD and its varied performance against other major currencies reflects the dynamic nature of the forex market.
